I know it sounds a little harsh, but I’ve had to endure the last week of football posts. I was calling them #thecolosseum.

“But there’s a deeper problem in the whole notion that what this nation needs is...”
– — Paul Krugman, America Isn’t a Corporation Since the beginning of the Republican primary season, I’ve had doubts about Mitt Romney’s constant claim that his business experience makes him an ideal candidate for President. With Romney’s campaign, we are asked to replace...

Hulu Ad Tailor, GTFO!
There is no escaping advertisements! I pay for a subscription to Hulu Plus and it is impossible to watch a movie or tv show commercial-free. I’m not sure I understand the point of paying for a subscription if I am forced to watch eight ads during a forty minute show. I hate to complain about something insignificant, but the above message really pissed me off! Hulu is asking me questions to...

“Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.”
– — Seneca If life is a sum of decisions than we must understand the importance of our ability to make them. Some decisions are easier than others, but that doesn’t change the fact that we must carefully consider them. In September of 2010, I began working for the Alzheimer’s...

A Summary: The GOP New Hampshire Debate
Romney: No one attacked me on anything!
Santorum: There is no such thing as class in America!
Paul: I understand true racism, unlike everyone else on this stage.
Gingrich: Marriage is a religious sacrament before it is a civic institution.
Perry: I would send troops back to Iraq.
Huntsman: (Insert Chinese)

“Our founders intended for them to be the least consequential of the three...”
– Rick Santorum does not make sense. All three branches of government are necessary and provide a critical function. The Supreme Court has appellate jurisdiction over all Federal and state courts. How is that not important?

– — Barack Obama, 2008 Iowa Caucus Victory Speech As I am posting this quote, Rick Santorum is leading Mitt Romney by 100 votes and Ron Paul has effectively finished third. Over the past year, the debates and arguments made by GOP hopefuls have been unconvincing and in stark contrast to my own...

2012 Politics
Political convictions are complex and not always easy to express. They give background and history to the beliefs that guide and influence our political life. We take our beliefs and reconcile them with the choices that are provided to us whenever it is time to vote. In essence, we try to translate the way we see the world into a checked box.  I’m sure there are arguments, some valid and...

Why Christmas shopping for my siblings is easy.
Javier: What do y'all want for Christmas?
Elisia: A pony
Dario: Cologne, a wallet, or a cardigan. Or all of them.
Javier: What kind of cologne?
Dario: I'm not sure. Something that smells good.
Javier: I'm buying Elisia a pretty pretty princess pony.
Dario: As long as it's shiny, she'll like it.
Elisia: Yes, I will love it if it's shiny! What do you want Javier?

November 6, 2012
Exactly one year from tonight, I will be anxiously waiting for important news: the United States will have chosen its next President. It’s impossible to guess who that will be; a year is a long time, especially in politics.  However, I do know a few things. I know that this next year will be consumed by shallow political discourse that does nothing to address the tough issues we face. I...
